On January 16, 2021, after 79 years of valiant service, Hazel Luora (Henningson) Cox, returned to our Father in Heaven, peacefully in her home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.

Hazel was born on May 28, 1941, in Emery, Utah to Legrand W. and Mary Henningson. She was raised in Emery.

She married McLloyd Stringham, September 12, 1957 of which she was married for 21 years and had three children, Karl, Ileen, and Mac. She then married the love of her life, Richard Aldous Cox on the 10th of November 1978. They were later sealed, for time and all eternity, in the Manti, Utah Temple on the 15th of January 1994.

Hazel was an EMT- I for the town of Emery for 26 years. She was recognized by the Utah Association of EMTs with the John Henrie Award in 2001. She was a dedicated ambulance supervisor, building lifelong friendships and beloved memories with her team.

Hazel had a true passion for gardening and always had a garden that was the envy of the town. She loved teaching and helping neighbors and friends with their gardens as well. She would plant tomatoes along her house for the community to pick as they needed and wanted.

Hazel was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she faithfully served in many callings within the church, including Relief Society President. She was beloved by the members of the town for her countless hours of service alongside her husband Richard Cox.

She is survived by sister, Floann (Bevan) Wilson, Huntington; children, Karl (Shelley) Stringham, New Hampshire; Ileen Baker, Emery; Mac (Deanee) Stringham, Arizona; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Cox; step-son, Shayne Cox; her brother Neal Henningson; sisters, Dorothy Pulley, Jean Zwhalen, and Delise Staley; and grandson Richard Kel Stringham.

Funeral services for the family will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Emery Ward Chapel, 70 North Center St., Emery, UT. Family visitation will also be at the church Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.  Burial will be in the Emery Town Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
