Parkdale Health and Rehab have recently welcomed a new Director, Geoff Prusak to the facility. Castle County Radio was able to sit down with the director to talk about the wonderful services that Parkdale Health and Rehab have to offer.

The facility has been under strict COVID-19 restrictions as Prusak explains, “When COVID first started, and nobody knew quite what it was, everybody just kind of clamped down and tried to be extremely cautious. As we have gotten more and more information about COVID, they’ve kind of dialed in some restrictions and things like that that they’ve found to be really effective. At Parkdale we don’t have any single COVID cases in the building and that’s been a testament to the infectious control.” Parkdale screens each of their employees for temperature and symptoms before they can start their shift. They also have been doing bi-weekly COVID testing but since the county’s transmission rate has decreased, they are only testing once a week.

Parkdale has kept non-essential individuals out of the facility to protect the residents. “You know the most vulnerable people in society a lot of times we’ve got a lot of elderly individuals with comorbidities and they’ve found that those people are very susceptible to COVID and they’re the ones that you know have the greatest chance of having severe complications from it. So they said to try and protect those people. We don’t want anyone coming into the building that really doesn’t need to and so we’ve restricted pretty much anyone that is non-essential to the functions of the facility from coming in,” stated Prusak. These restrictions seem to be working because Parkdale has been able to keep residents safe.

Physical therapy and post-op care are available at the facility for individuals who may find that they are in need of these services. “There’s a lot that you have to re-learn sometimes and that’s where we come in with physical therapy. Occupational therapy comes in and works on specific skills like brushing your teeth sometimes or using the bathroom, showering and grooming, dressing those sorts of things. That’s all that we do at Parkdale,” said Prusak. They also offer short-term skilled nursing care for patients recovering from an illness or injury.
