While spring cleaning your home this year why not spring clean out your medicine cabinet as well. Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood took time to speak with Castle Country Radio about an upcoming event where you can properly dispose of unwanted or expired prescriptions in a safe manner.

“Every year the DEA, this is the 20th nationwide event since they started it 10 years ago. So every year they do these things and we like to help them out. So this year in Carbon County its going to be here in the parking lot at the Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Wood. The event will be held on Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Sheriff’s Office located at 240 West Main Street in Price. The Emery County Sheriff’s Department will host a similar event which will be held at Stewarts’s Market but the date and time is not known at this time.

If you are unable to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day you do have other disposal options available to you. “Here’s a little tip, if it’s not a Take Back Day, you know these events happen two times a year, you still if you have unwanted prescriptions that you need disposed of bring those to the Sheriff’s Office. We have the ability to dispose of those here, we have an incinerator and they fire that up every now and again and incinerate so we will take them,” said Sheriff Wood. There is also authorized collection sites available at Price City Police Department and Helper Police Department.
