The city of Helper is looking forward to hosting a Spring Spectacular event on April 10 to re-introduce the city’s Main Street to the community. An Event Organizer, Kate Kilpatrick-Miller took time to come in to Castle Country Radio to speak about this wonderful event.

“The event is going to be from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and we just want to re-open Main Street, remind people that we’re there. We’ve got some new stores, at least four that I’m aware of, Bug and Bird, Outlaw Antiques, 3 on A Tree, Timeless Art. We haven’t done this before but with COVID – come on people, come on out. We’ll have the street closed, wear your mask, make sure that you keep your six feet apart – so you’re safe but just come and have some fun,” stated Kilpatrick-Miller. Most of the stores will be opened during the event so residents can visit each of the shops.

Children that plan to attend the event will have several activities to participate in while enjoying the Spring Spectacular. “Some of the business owners will be having kids create their own bracelets or necklaces. We’ve got three businesses that have come together so you that can go on a get your flowers type of walk down the street where you can get a planter at Bug and Bird, soil at K2 Gallery and plant and decorate your planter down at Three Little Llamas. So we’ve got kids activities like that,” said Kilpatrick-Miller. These activities are free and for the first 25 children who attend.

There will be plenty for the adults to see and enjoy as Kilpatrick-Miller explains, “We’ve got a traveling exhibit at the museum Moniker: Mark of the Tramp which is very important to this area. We’ve got a Jacob Hardy photography exhibit in an artist show at Canvas Alchemy. Most of the art galleries will be open to see their stuff if you want to purchase or not just come out and look.” There will be at least ten galleries open for guests to visit during the spectacular.

There will also be Rio Theatre tours given at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm. “The mayor has been able to get $50,000.00 worth of grant monies from a handful of people. They’ve done a lot of work in there with lighting, and sound, and everything else. I saw a little bit of it and its going to be really cool,” said Kilpatrick-Miller. The tours will be free to the public.
