Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Joseph “Joe” David Trenery, 74, of Ferron, Utah, died April 28, 2021, following a lengthy illness.

Joe was born in San Bernardino, California on October 17, 1946 to Walter and Rose Cushing Trenery.

He graduated from Redlands High School in 1965. On April 29, 1967 he married his beloved Daria Lee Anderson; she preceded him in death on August 18, 2008.

Joe and Daria moved to Utah where he spent time with the Forest Service, then later worked as a coal miner and foreman for more than 30 years. Together with their sons, Matt, and Marc, they made a home in Ferron with numerous friends.

Joe loved and always wanted to be in service to others. He was a member of the Ferron City Council and enjoyed celebrating Peach Days and introducing golf to the county. He was a passionate promoter of the Southeastern Jr. Livestock Program. In the winter, he woke early to prepare the roads. Joe loved his animals and his dogs were his constant companions in his truck or tractor.

During the holiday season, Joe lent his lap and ear to bring the magic of Santa to many schoolchildren and churches. Adding a red suit to his rosy cheeks, thick white beard and silvery blue eyes naturally led him to be in high demand from November to December.

Survivors include his son, Matt (Melissa) Trenery; sister, Mary Ann Putnam; sisters-in-law, Tamma Jo Mays and Janel Madrigal; five grandchildren, nieces, nephew and a community of friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 41 years, Daria; son, Marc; and granddaughter, Cassie.

He leaves his family and friends well cared for and better for having taken the time to hear his stories and enjoy his friendship.

Memorial graveside service  Friday, May 7, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Ferron City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily and may share memories at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
