The bubble is now off of the Desert Wave Pool which means its time for some summer fun. Aquatics Director, Tamara Gray, stopped by Castle Country Radio to talk about upcoming summer swim lessons.

“Summer swim lessons will start on June 7. We kind of take a break right now we have our last session of the Spring ones finishing up and they’ll start June 7. We do them in the morning, each session runs two weeks, Monday through Thursday, half hour lessons. So you can give us a call about the last week of May and we can let you know the schedule. I’m still getting some instructors trained,” stated Gray. Swim lessons are open to all skill levels and cost $35.00 per session. Spots fill up very quickly because the class sizes are kept small for instruction purposes. Each session sign-up schedule will be ready a week before the class begins. They will try to accommodate all the levels needed in each session.

Swimming lessons give your children the confidence and skills they need when they are around water. “Making them feel safe, giving you the security that knowing your kids can swim, can tread water, and just know in general to be safe around it,” explained Gray. Lessons start as young as six months old with a parent/child class. The Star Fish, Gold Fish and Puddle Duck categories are for ages 3 and 4. The Duck, Seahorse and Stingray category are for ages 5 and up. Advanced levels/categories are Sea Lion, Dolphin, Orca and Shark.

Reservations to swim are no longer needed. “So now with lap swim we do reservations but as for open swim we are no longer requiring reservations for open swim. We just ask that if there are over 50 people there you wear your mask on the deck, you don’t have to wear it in the water. But yea, we’re not requiring reservations any longer for open swim but if you want lap swim give us a call, because we have people that have requested, we still do reservations for lap swim so everybody has a lane,” stated Gray. Individuals can contact the Desert Wave Pool by calling (435) 637-SWIM (7946).

The Desert Wave Pool will be changing to Summer Hours towards the end of the month.  “We will start our Summer Hours at the end of May, May 27 that’s the day that school gets out. Then we’ll be open, our Summer Hours noon to 8:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, and Sunday noon to 6:00 pm, so our first Sunday we will be open will be May 30,” said Gray.
