Helper Middle School is being highlighted on this week’s Carbon School District weekly update and Castle Country Radio was able to speak with Principal Robert Bradley about what is taking place at the school.

“We are just honestly grateful that we have been able to be in session, in person this whole year. So as we come to the end of the school year we’re able to do things as normal as we possibly could or ever have been able to. We’ve got our certainly end of year testing that’s going on, we have our track that’s occurring, we have our end of year celebration, all of these things are going on as we get ready to wrap up the school year and we are just excited for it to come to a close,” stated Principal Bradley. The last day of school is scheduled on May 27.

It has been amazing that the schools within the district have been able to conduct instruction throughout the entire year without any complications or closures due to the COVID pandemic.  “Honestly, the only thing we can ask even more of our students is to just take our end of level testing seriously. As we look at where we could be compared to the rest of the state, we have the potential of leading the state in achievement and in growth for our students in what they’ve learned this year, so we hope they take it seriously,” explained Principal Bradley. Parents are encouraged to make sure their students are well-rested and attend school during the end of level testing.

Construction at the school is going very well the school has been tracking the progress and sharing it on their Facebook page. “If they’re really interested, they can check out the Helper Middle School Facebook page. We have posted updates. If they go to the post and type in chapters, they’re going to see all fourteen chapters so far of photos of the construction and how its progressed, including a really large giant retaining wall in the back and they’ve already got concrete floor and starting to raise some of the walls,” stated Principal Bradley. It’s hard to see the construction taking place from the main road but construction is coming along nicely. During the summer months the school will be closed and construction will continue.

“Additionally, we want to make people aware that the school is not going to be accessible through the summer as there’s going to be quite a bit of construction on the inside. Pretty much is the same thing at Carbon High as well, they also are going to be closed during the summer there wouldn’t be anybody there to be able to help you out if you have questions. Certainly, an email to the office or to me the Principal bradleyr@carbonschools.org I check that pretty frequently and would certainly help if you had any questions,” stated Principal Bradley.
