The Spartan track and field squad were in Provo last week for the Brigham Young Invitational. Over seventy schools from four states were in attendance with the boys landing in the ninth spot, the girls team placed tied for 59th.
Trevin Brazier continued his senior campaign with a top finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 38.07, a full three seconds ahead of second place finisher Blake Barnes of Milford. Brazier collected a second place spot in the 110 meter hurdles just behind Landon Helms of Emmett High School from Idaho. Brazier had two third place finishes in the 100 meter and 200 meter, and has finished consistently in the top three in his events this season.
Jess Christiansen grabbed two top five finishes in distance running for Emery. Christiansen crossed the line with a time of 9:29.95 in the 3200 meter and then registered 4:29.02 in the 1600, three seconds behind third place Jack Lange of Rowland Hall.
For the ladies Haley Guymon threw for fifth in the javelin. This is Guymon’s fourth top five finish this season. Last week at the Eastern Utah Championships she earned a third place finish in the event.
Bethany Justice grabbed another top ten finish in the 300 meter hurdles coming in eighth with a time of 48.37.
The Spartans now get ready for the Region 12 Championships that will take place on Wednesday May 12 at Carbon High School.
