The USU Extension Office is proud to announce their 4-H Summer Programs. This year there is sure to be something appealing to all local students. 4-H Coordinator, DeLayna Barr took time to come into Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.

“When you become a member of 4-H its last from September to September and you get a free t-shirt, so make sure you come and get your t-shirt.  That membership opens up so many clubs and opportunities for you to join camps and other things throughout the year. Sometimes other clubs and camps can have a little bit of a fee just to cover the cost of materials,” said Barr. If there are additional fees required it is very affordable for families.

There is an overabundance of summer programs that are being offered. “We’ve got photography, we have mountain biking, we even have frisbee golf that we’re going to have a club and do that a little bit. Then we have club that our teen leaders will be running, a healthy living, and also they’re going to be doing drones and robots and things like that. So bringing in some STEM elements with these teen leaders,” explained Barr. There will also be three levels of cooking courses offered, plus after so many requests for sewing classes they will be offering courses having to do with sewing and quilting.

“A lot of these we really wanted for our middle school kids that they just kind of seem like they just need a little bit more to be active. So we really want parents to look at those age groups and a lot things are open for those middle schoolers and high schoolers but several for the elementary kids also,” said Barr. The 4-H Program is open to kids ages eight years old to 18 years old. There is a Clover Buds group that caters to kindergarten through second grade.
