The Emery ladies golf team traveled to West Jordan and the Mountain View Golf Course on Wednesday and Thursday to compete at the 3A State Championships. After making the first day cut they moved into the second against nine other schools and finished in seventh place.

Richfield claimed the top spot, turning in a score of 650. Morgan, Judge Memorial, Union and Juab rounded out the top five.

For the Spartans, Angie Nielson would card a 199, leading Emery in the two day event. Macie Nielson turned in a 204 and both Jannika Beagley and Kimberlyn Gilbert shot a 220.

Piper Harris of Richfield and Ellie DeMond of Morgan both turned in the low score of the event with a 152.

This concludes the golf season for the Lady Spartans. Next season the team will have a different look as Angie Nielson, Mace Nielson and Beagley will all graduate.  Coach Tom Hansen will be looking to the underclassmen to step up and compete next spring.
