The Business Technical Assistance Center (BTAC) is a coworking space located inside the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Government building at 375 South Carbon Avenue. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Doug Miller and Alison Preston to discuss the services the BTAC offers community members.

“The BTAC is a location where primarily known as a co-working space. Its where a lot of are local entrepreneurs and those doers, thinkers, and makers can get together and in a lot of different ways create entrepreneurial opportunities,” said Miller. So the BTAC co-working space is the main highlight of the organization as it offers free space to get your business off the ground. This is a perfect space for those transient employees to work from if they are needing a space to work for a day or two, maybe even for a week, if not more.

The studio is another service the BTAC offers its guests.  “Which is a space where, from our perspective allows our Carbon County folks, and really those that are in our four-county area, to get together and build something that extends beyond their physical space. That would be through the podcasting, through video podcasting or vlogging, through the 3D printer, all these other facets that folks wouldn’t even know about but do exist there in the studio that’s part of the BTAC,” said Miller. This is a great area to conduct everything that is media related to your business.

The organization also offers a commercial kitchen for those that are in the catering or food related business.  “Our commercial kitchen was actually brought to the BTAC through various grants. It has officially opened and with that commercial kitchen it offers an opportunity for people to use it in a wide variety of ways. If you do catering for events, you’re welcome to come use the commercial kitchen. We obviously encourage as Doug said, businesses to grow. Maybe you’re serving food at a booth, and you want to make it a business, booths to businesses is something we definitely want to encourage and having that commercial kitchen space is something that is available,” said Preston. Individuals interested in the commercial kitchen must have a food handler’s permit and are asked to fill out an application for approval of booking time.
