Active Re-Entry is excited to be hosting their 18th Annual Run, Walk & Roll for Independence 5K on Saturday, September 18 at 8:00 am. The race will begin at the Active Re-Entry building located at 10 South Fairgrounds Road. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Fiscal Officer, Rachelle Blanc & Executive Director, Terry Yeloneck to discuss all the details.

“So we are excited to be starting and offering this Run, Walk & Roll again. It will be our 18th annual race, it is a 5K race so please runners, if you’re serious runners, come out and participate. If you’re not a serious runner come out and participate. If you are in a wheelchair, come and participate. If you’re learning to ride a bike, a scooter – so we want all abilities out participating,” said Blanc. This is a free community wide event and open to all ages.

“New this year we will be offering finishing medals. So those who participate and finish the 5K race will be receiving finishing medals. We also will be having a timing system so for those that are serious runners, who want to know their times, we will be offering that as well,” said Blanc. Officials are excited to be offering medals this year to commemorate the Run, Walk & Roll for Independence 5K.

There are many services that Active Re-Entry offers the community. “Active Re-Entry has been in business for over 33 years and most people don’t know that. But we provide services to individuals with disabilities and that’s disabilities of all types and individuals of all ages and our services are free,” stated Yeloneck. Just to name a few of the organization’s programs they offer low vision assistance, scooter training, music & memory, youth programs, assistive technology and community integration.

“Our goal is to help people who have disabilities be or remain as independent as possible in their own homes and their own communities. We want them to be integrated members of their communities. So we provide all kinds of services to assist in that,” said Yeloneck. To learn more about Active Re-Entry visit their website at https://www.arecil.org/ or call them at (435) 637-4950.
