The Seventh Annual Joe’s Valley Bouldering Festival will take place September 23 through September 26 in Castle Dale. Castle Country Radio spoke over the telephone with Festival Coordinator, Amanda Leonard to talk about all the details of the festival.

“So Thursday we’re having a pool day with the Wibit at the Emery County Aquatic Center from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We do ask that you have a festival ticket or we will have a donation box that you can put like $5.00 in at the pool if you want to come join that.  We’re also doing the Motorcycle Rodeo at 6:00 pm at the outdoor arena in Castle Dale, Brett White with Castle Valley Small Engine is hosting that for us,” said Leonard. That same evening at 8:00 pm Neal Peacock will be hosting hay ride Ghost Tours which will depart from the Rec Center and the cost to attend is $5.00 per person.

Friday events will start with Yoga at GRIT Fitness in Orangeville and all of the local Artisan Clinics will begin on this morning too. “Rodeo classes start at 4:30 pm where they can ride a horse, they teach them how to lasso, tips on how to ride a steer. So kind of prepare them for the Rodeo Games that start at 6:30 pm. Those are, like I said, absolutely the highlight of fest, to see these amazing athletes try to chase a chicken, or ride a hide, and ride a steer is my favorite part,” said Leonard. Community members are invited to attend the Rodeo Games to cheer on the contestants.

“So Saturday mostly from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm is climbing up in the mountains with the professionals or learning how to climb and then the trade fair starts at 2:00 pm it goes until the giant raffle that we have at 7:00 pm and our Junior Entrepreneurs will be there,” said Leonard. Most of all the event sponsors will have a booths set up for bouldering participants as well as for community members to enjoy and learn about their products. There will be Climbing Games scheduled to take place at 4:30 pm where the athletes show off their climbing skills. There will also be a screening of the Black Ice movie at 9:00 pm at the Emery High School Auditorium, the film’s participants will be on hand for a Q&A session after the showing of the film.
