Emery cross country traveled to Price on Wednesday for the Carbon Invitational which took place at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course. Over 11 schools took part in the competition with the Emery boys finishing in fifth place and the girls ending the day in eighth.

The fifth place finish for the boys was their best since the Canyon View Invitational in early September. Union claimed the top spot followed by Richfield, Carbon and Manti.

Camdon Larsen ended in eighth out of over 75 runners. Merritt Mecarriello, Jack Christiansen, Jess Christiansen and Byron Christiansen were all top finishers for the Spartans.

Individually, the top spot went to Richfield’s Richard Crane who finished with a time of 16:02.0. Union’s Paul Squire and Jett Davenport claimed second and third with Carbon’s Kobe Cruz in fourth and Payson’s Caden Rasmussen in fifth.

For the ladies Kallee Cook finished 23rd with a time of 21:53.6. Kylee Willis, Kalle Luke, Daicee Ungerman and Kadrianne Bird all competed for Emery.

Payson’s Autumn Huntington grabbed the top spot turning in a time of 19:14.4. Carbon’s Beverly Lancaster, Cadence Kasprick of Grand, Jaylee Jenkins from Union and North Sanpete’s Mari Briggs round out the girls top five finishes.

On the team side it was Carbon who claimed first place, followed by Payson, North Sanpete, Grand and Manti. Emery ended the day in eighth. The finsih was one of the top ones of the season for the Spartans.

Emery will head back out on Friday for Border Wars Cross Country at Sugar House Park.
