The Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness (USARA) is hosting a Recovery Day event for the entire community to enjoy. USARA Peer Recovery Coach, Mersades Morgan took time to come in to Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details about the annual event.

“So USARA is our local non-profit recovery center that we have here in Price and we cover Carbon and Emery County. We are so excited for this event, this is an annual event that we get to put on and its going to be like you said this Friday and it has got so many activities going on,” said Morgan. This gathering will take place at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Softball Complex on Friday, September 24 at 11:00 am till 5:30 pm.

There will be a free shuttle service from the Price City Peace Gardens to the softball complex every hour on the hour beginning at 11:00 am.  “We want to make sure that everybody is able to attend this event regardless of their circumstances. We want to make sure our resources are made available to every member of our community and that they are able to come feel connected and supported in events like this,” explained Morgan.

There will be several organizations that will be in attendance that will share information about their services. “So at 11:00 am we will start with our resource fair. We will have local resources as well as some outside resources and that will go till about 3:00 pm. We’re going to have a free pizza lunch at 11:00 am that will be provided to everybody,” said Morgan. There will be food trucks, kids face painting and chances to win some great prizes in an opportunity drawing that will be held during the event.

At 3:00 pm there will be a softball game with local law enforcement, first responders and recoverees playing. “It’s a lot of stigma reduction and showing that we are all here just to support one another and to cheer each other on and to have a good time and just to really feel connected,” stated Morgan. This friendly game of softball is a wonderful way to support one another and to help raise awareness surrounding issues of addiction and recovery.
