The 3A State Tennis Championships were held at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City last Friday and Saturday. The Emery Spartans team of Aspen Taylor and Brooklyn Ekker represented the school in the first doubles category.

Taylor, a junior and Ekker, a sophomore competed all season and compiled a record of 6-2 landing them in the No. 4 seed from Region 12.

In their opening round match they faced Isabella Valles and Ava Issac of Judge Memorial. The match lasted two sets with the duo from Judge Memorial taking the 6-2 and 6-3 win.

Taylor and Ekker made their way through the season with wins at San Juan, Grand, Millard and Gunnison Valley. The ladies also earned their spot in the State Tournament with a fourth place finish at the Region 12 tournament in Monroe on October 1.

Morgan claimed the top spot in 3A in the team competition, with Grantsville, Carbon, Maeser Prep and Rowland Hall-St. Marks rounding out the top five.
