Three Carbon High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2021 fall season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.

Kobe Cruz earned honors for cross country. Cruz has had an outstanding year with eight top four finishes. Cross country will go back to work on Wednesday when they travel to Cedar City for the Region 12 Championships.

In volleyball, Janzie Jensen received recognition for her efforts on the court and in the classroom. Jensen and the Dinos are sitting at 20-5 this season and they will face Emery on Tuesday night in Price for the final regular season game. The 3A playoffs will begin on Oct. 23.

And in football, Gabriel Bloomer a defensive lineman was one of just 14 honorees in 3A for the sport. The Dinos will be back on the field next week for the opening round of the state playoffs.

For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
