The Carbon School District weekly update brings attention to Mont Harmon Middle School Student Government. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with three student body officers and their advisor to talk about what they do for the students at Mont Harmon Middle School.

The student body officers meet each day for a leadership class where they plan activities/events for the school. “Fortunately, we have a period every single day dedicated for student government. So we have total of six committees that go on during that time and the biggest one that we’re working on right now is our Activity Committee because next week is Red Ribbon Week. So we are doing a lot of great things to get ready for that week,” stated Mrs. April Buscarini. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign that takes place every year during the last week of October.

Student Body President, Katie Banasky shares what her Activities Committee has planned for next week, “We have all sorts of stuff. We have handouts for all the kids. We have lunch games that we will play and on Friday next week we will have a dance.” A list of Red Ribbon events for the week will be listed on the school’s Facebook page.

Student Body Historian, Camilla Solice shares what she likes most about her position, “It’s been really, really fun being able to like run the Instagram and the social medias, that’s been really, really fun for me.” Anytime students or parents want to know what is going on at the school they may access the school’s information on Mont Harmon’s social media outlets.

Sixth Grade Representative, Reese Timothy talks about what he does for the Education/Service Committee, “So they go and teach the sixth graders who we are and what we do and tell them, hey, you can do this next year.” This committee helps students adapt to the in and outs of middle school life.
