It’s time for another Price City update and Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Mayor Michael Kourianos who spoke about the fire department, Main Street U.S.A. and Christmas Tree regalia.

The Price City Fire Department has three crews of men and women who volunteer their time to help citizens in Price. “They get their lives disrupted a lot and we just appreciate the work they’re doing, and the dedication. It takes a certain person to have that kind of dedication and the love. It’s so phenomenal when you talk to these men and women of Price City Fire. So here’s the thing, they’re also going to be doing the Sub for Santa and I’m asking the community to donate, you know open your purse or wallet and donate because that money comes right back into our community to those that are less fortunate,” stated Mayor Kourianos. Keep an eye out for the members of the Fire Department as they will be around the community collecting money in the boot to help with the Sub for Santa project.

Many citizens may have noticed the little changes taking place on the city’s Main Street with the nice new blue benches and planters. This is all through the efforts of the city’s Youth Council who have come up with different ideas to make Main Street more inviting for residents and visitors. Now its time to seek input from residents as to what they would like to see their Main Street look like. “Price City was chosen as a pilot project from the state from GOED (Governor’s Office of Economic Development), so Price and Brigham City are the two cities in the whole state. With that being said, we’re getting help from the state to help us rejuvenate our Main Street with our businesses, and from our training yesterday, we were told you know, we need to get the community involved. We want the community to give us input on what they vision their Main Street to be,” explained Mayor Kourianos. The city is thinking that after the holidays they may host a community forum for citizens to attend and voice their ideas on what they would like to see happen on Main Street.

Speaking of Main Street there will be a kick-off to the holiday season on Friday, November 12 at the Price City Peace Garden. “On Friday from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, down at the Peace Gardens, we’re going to have Encore do a dance performance at 5:00 pm. Then we’re asking people to bring waterproof ornaments to decorate a tree that we are putting up there in the Peace Gardens. We’re going to have hot chocolate and some treats, the Youth Council is putting that together,” said Mayor Kourianos. There will be a choir performing Christmas songs to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this event.
