Elmo City Mayor James Winn took time from his busy schedule to speak with Castle Country Radio about the city’s trunk or treat event, city elections and the city dumpsters.

“We just had our town trunk or treat, had some people come out, had a good time, had some creative trunks, and gave out a few prizes. Had donuts and hot chocolate at the Town Hall so it was a good time,” said Mayor Winn. This gave families that live on the outskirts of town the opportunity to enjoy some trick or treating in town.

The city’s elections were canceled this year as there was no one to challenge the current candidates. “It saves the town money because we didn’t have to pay for that to be mailed out and people to vote that way. So we canceled the elections and there weren’t any write-ins or anything available. So it was just, you guys get who put in which was myself and Stoney Jensen was the other,” said Mayor Winn. The city council currently has a seat available so if any residents are interested in the vacancy, they are urged to speak with Mayor Winn or contact Town Hall.

The city was having issues with the city dumpsters and has since fixed the problem.  “We had a little bit of drug activity and so we’ve been able to build a fence that we contracted with somebody, they did a really good job. It was Darrell Guymon, he built us a good fence and it’s a pretty big area. So we’re able to monitor that now, that way we don’t’ have any activity going on there without us knowing about it,” stated Mayor Winn. The dumpsters will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from dawn till dusk.
