Its all about water conservation, snow removal ordinances and a Youth Council event on this month’s Ferron City update. Mayor Adele Justice was able to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio about these topics.

Like most towns in the area there was a big emphasis on water conservation during the summer months and Ferron citizens worked together to do just that. “Our citizens were absolutely awesome in conserving water this summer. We made strides that we never thought was possible in conserving water so we’re pretty excited about that. People just came together and worked, and it wasn’t a tough year like we expected it to be with a lot of complaints and shutoffs it was just the community truly coming together so we appreciated everybody’s efforts,” stated Mayor Justice.

The town is now preparing for winter and would like to remind the public of the snow removal regulations the city does enforce. “Here in Ferron, we actually have an ordinance that states you’re not supposed to have something parked on the street more than 48 hours consecutively, and so we kind of tighten up on that ordinance a little bit in the winter months, especially because of the snow. We ask citizens when they know that there’s a storm coming to try and get their vehicles, trailers, whatever they have parked out on the street off so that our snowplows can get around and get people out,” explained Mayor Justice.  The city appreciates the future efforts citizens will display when it comes to snow removal this year.

The city’s Youth Council has a fun activity planned for residents to join and all proceeds from the event will go to the local Angel Tree project. “It’s going to be next Wednesday the 17th, 6:00 pm at the fairgrounds and its just going to be a great night. This is something that the Youth Council come up with on their own, their own idea. We’ve got a great Youth Council in Ferron this year and so we hope that our community really comes out and supports this event,” said Mayor Justice. The event will feature an evening of Bingo and pies. The cost is $5.00 for seven Bingo cards and winners will win various baked pies.
