David Clark Monson was born on February 22, 1945, in American Fork, Utah, to Mildred Arlene and Ephraim Venzel Nelson Monson. David was the sixth child of 10 and the youngest son.

On March 1, 1963, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. David served one tour of service as an air traffic operator with the 2139th Communication Squadron. David was honorably discharged from the Air Force on December 14, 1966.

David married Joyce Elaine Dawson in 1974. They were blessed with one daughter, Rebecca C. Monson. He and Joyce later divorced. David married Martha Lynne Standing. David and Martha were blessed with a daughter, Emily A. Monson. He and Martha later divorced.

David loved mathematics and economics. He loved to calculate and share his mathematical knowledge. David worked many years as an electronic technician. He enjoyed building electronic components.

David studied at the University of Utah and received a bachelor of science degree in management on August 18, 1995.

David loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time in Salt Lake City’s Memorial Grove and hiking in the Cottonwood Canyon. David also enjoyed biking, taking the girls hiking, swimming, and sledding.

Rebecca remembers David’s imagination helping her to see things in a different light. She loved looking at the clouds with David and finding the images others might not see.

David was very artistic and creative. He enjoyed painting with watercolors. Emily remembers watching Bob Ross with David. David taught Emily to draw, paint and sculpt. David loved photography. Emily said she became creative because David drew her to the arts. Over the last few months, David enjoyed talking about the stars.

Between 1995 and 2009, David traveled the Western United States following jobs. Since 2010, David resided in the Granite area of Salt Lake Valley. Over the last few years, he enjoyed spending time with his older brother Richard. At the end of May 2021, David chose to move south to warmer weather.

Since June of 2021, David resided with his daughter Rebecca and her family in Hurricane, Utah. In late October, David became ill. He spent a month in the hospital and then the care center.

On November 20, 2021, he passed away peacefully in his sleep attended to by his family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca C. Wilkinson (David) and Emily Moon; four brothers, Dewey Monson, Kenneth Monson (Rosie), Richard Monson and John Monson (Dianna); one sister, Susan Monson Babbel (Steve); and nine grandchildren.

Graveside service, Saturday, November 27, 2021, 2:00 p.m., Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah. The family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501) one hour prior to the graveside service.
