After the 61-27 drubbing of American Leadership Academy the Lady Dinos looked forward to a rematch of the third and fourth place game at last season’s 3A State Championships as they traveled to Grantsville to face the Cowboys, who claimed the 59-50 win.

In last year’s playoff the Cowboys defeated the Dinos 53-38, and while the score would be closer this time , the result was the same.  Carbon struggled to contain Grantsville’s junior guard Mckenzie Allen who had a stat line that any coach would be happy with 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting while also adding five rebounds, six assists and six steals.

Carbon had issues with offense early only scoring six in the first quarter, but by the end the seemed to be putting things together but like some games simply ran out of time and fell to 1-1 on the young season.

Sydney Orth scored 12, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists. Madi Orth and Karli Hillam both added eight points each with Madi adding five boards and Hillam three. Amiah Timothy pulled down six rebounds and collected two steals in the Carbon loss.

The Lady Dinos will be off until Thursday Dec. 2 when they travel to The Shannon Johnson Classic Tournament.

On Thursday the Dinos take on The Uintah Utes from Vernal. Last year at the same tournament Carbon defeated the Utes 40-32.

They will then face teams from Ridgeline, San Juan and Sky View.

The Dinos will be on the road once more the following weekend when they will travel to the Fruita Monument Tournament in Colorado.

Carbon will not have another home game until next year when Union will come to Price on January 4.
