There is sure to be lots of fun activities to enjoy at the Beat the Winter Blues Festival taking place on January 28 21 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and January 29 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This event will be held inside the Emery County Recreation Building located at 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale.

There will be live entertainment set to take place on both days of the festival as Castle Dale City’s Mayor Danny VanWagoner explains, “Saturday at 10:00 am it starts out with Encore Dance, then we have Dance Technique, Just Because Singers, the Creekview Choir, Canyon View Cheer, Emery High Spardettes. At 12:30 pm on Saturday, the cornhole tournament will start. Then at 2:00 pm Lee Jeffs is going to be giving hay wagon rides. So that’s just the entertainment part of it.” Officials state that this year’s entertainment is sure to be very entertaining for all ages.

There will be vendor booths, food trucks available at the event. “So many businesses are going to have booths. There’s going to be food vendor trucks here so this is going to be just a come over, have a great time and there’s going to be plenty to do, you’re not going to get bored. The kids are going to have things to do, the adults are going to have things to do,” explained Mayor VanWagoner. There will be a craft corner set up with children’s activities, golf putting contest, ice skating and so much more.

The concept behind the festival was to help residents beat the winter blues. “Where everybody is cooped up for the winter, we wanted to do something to get, just get out of these winter blues. All of sudden this took a really good life of its own and so many people got behind it that it’s become very exciting and it’s going to be a big event,” said Mayor VanWagoner. City officials state that this event would not be possible without the help from their sponsors such as Emery County Chamber of Commerce, Castleview Hospital, Castle Dale City and Emery Telcom.
