The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) posts the Rating Percentage Index (RPI) daily on their website for most high school activities. These numbers are then used in the state championship tournaments to seed the teams for the playoffs.

The RPI is a mathematical equation that ranks teams by the strength of their schedule and is based on three different parameters: the teams winning percentage , their opponents winning percentage and their opponents opponents winning percentage.  The equation gives each team a percentage and then those numbers are used to rank each team throughout the season. With the playoffs coming up in February teams can get an idea as to whom they may be playing when the time comes.

In 1A the top three stayed the same with Panguitch at 17-1 holding the No.1 spot. Piute and Manila land in No.2 and No. 3, but Diamond Ranch Academy and Bryce Valley swap spots at four and five.

Pinnacle lands at the No.19 spot this week down one.  The Panthers only had one game last week on Friday with No.7 Monument Valley, which ended in a loss for Pinnacle. They will be back on the court on Tuesday when they welcome No.12 Monticello, they will then welcome No. 7 Monument Valley on Friday.

Green River stayed put at No. 22 even after the loss on Saturday in Moab to 3A Grand County. This week they will go on the road to face Monticello on Friday and then be home on Saturday for Monument Valley, the game is set to start at 3:00 p.m..

The top five in 3A experienced a shake-up with the exception of the No. 1 position which is still Grantsville. Layton Christian Academy reclaimed the No.2 spot followed by North Sanpete, Morgan and Manti.

The Carbon Dinos moved up one more place to No.14 after a win against No.19 Grand. This week they will head on the road Wednesday to face No. 16 Canyon View and then will wrap up the week with a home game against Richfield. Both games will be broadcast on KRPX 95.3 The Peak and will be available to stream at castlecountryradio.com

The Spartans slid back another spot to 17 this week with a win at home against Grand Wednesday and a loss Friday night in the Spartan Center as the Richfield Wildcats came to town. This week, Emery goes on the road to Cedar City to take on Canyon View. That game will be available on KOAL 107.3 FM or 750 AM or you can stream it at castlecountryradio.com
