With the final weeks of the season upon us, the Utah High School Activities Association has pulled the RPI for 3A and updated the 1A rankings. The 3A bracket will be released Saturday and the 1A rankings will be removed this weekend and will reappear on February 21.

The 1A rankings will be updated through this week and then be taken down until the Feb. 21 when the final bracket will be revealed and the tournament seeds will be known. The 1A tournament will begin on Feb. 26 at home sites and the finals will take place at the Sevier Valley Center on March 2-5.

Pinnacle sits at 7-9 overall and 3-3 in region play at this point of the season. The Panthers had two games last week a 48-36 loss against Monticello and a 53-40 win over Monument Valley. After their performance they jumped up two spots to No. 17. This week they have just one game, Wednesday at Green River. In their first meeting on January 14, Pinnacle claimed a 55-33 win over the Pirates. The Panthers will end the season next Tuesday at home against Whitehorse.

Green River has a 2-17 record overall and is 1-5 in region and seem to be cemented in the No. 22 spot. Following the 60-37 loss to Monticello, the Pirates came back to take out Monument Valley by the score of 62-49.  Green River has just two games left on the regular season schedule starting with this Wednesday when they will welcome Pinnacle to town. The final game on tap before the playoffs is another home contest this time with Monticello.

The Carbon Dinos are 9-9 overall and 5-2 in region play this season and the last update had them at No. 14 in the RPI. After the road loss in Cedar City to Canyon View they would return home to take on the Richfield Wildcats collecting the win and sweeping the Wildcats this season. Two games remain for them starting this Wednesday on the road to take on the Manti Templars and then the regular season comes to a close Friday night in Castle Dale as they visit the Emery Spartans.

As for the Spartans, they played just once last week and suffered a loss at the hands of Canyon View. Emery carries a 5-13 overall record and a 2-4 region mark into the final week of the season. Sitting in the No. 17 spot this week they too will have a couple of chances to get back in the win column as they will head to Moab Wednesday to face Grand County, in their first meeting the Spartans came away with the win. And the regular season will come to an end Friday night in the Spartan Center as they welcome Carbon for Senior night.

The 3A bracket will be released this Saturday, once the tournament seedings are set, the opening round of the playoffs will begin at home sites starting on February 15.
