When the final RPI for 1A basketball was released, the Green River boys and girls knew exactly where they would be playing their first round match-ups, on the road. The boys team landed in the No.22 spot and they would travel to take on No.11 Monument Valley. The girls on the other hand, sat in the No. 18 position and  traveled to Tropic to face No. 15 Bryce Valley. Both teams started play on Saturday with the boys falling in their contest 81-63 and the girls dropped the game with Bryce Valley 33-15.

Looking back at their campaign, the girls season was all about the team. With only five players, some that had never played before and just wanted to so their friends could play. They had games that had to be rescheduled and some that they had to forfeit, they pushed on through the season and ended 4-16, going 3-5 in region play.

The game against the Bryce Valley Mustangs started slowly for both teams in the first quarter with the Pirates putting up two points and Bryce Valley putting up four. In the second quarter the Mustangs put up 13 taking a 17-6 lead into the locker room at the half.

Quarter three was almost a carbon copy of the first with both teams combining for seven points, moving into the the fourth the Mustangs took over again scoring 12 and putting the Pirates away.

Abigail Irwin scored 11 and Jenilee Andrus scored three in the loss.

As for the boys game, the Pirates stayed close to the Monument Valley Cougars, getting outscored in the first quarter by six bu then in the second and third quarters the Pirates found some offense putting up 16 in the second and then 24 in the third outscoring Monument Valley by four in the quarter. The Cougars would pull away in the fourth however, scoring 27 and holding Green River to 14.
