Carbon High School junior Colton Lowe has been voted Region 12’s Most Valuable Player after a standout 2022 season, leading six All-Region selections for the Dinos.

Lowe posted a team best .465 batting average and 1.000 fielding percentage as he played error free baseball throughout the season. Accumulating 27 RBIs, six triples and two home runs, Lowe was one of the most feared hitters in the division.

Voted on by the coaches within the division, the Dinos have five other All-Region players after winning the league with a record of 10-2.

Selected as the region’s MVP in 2021, senior Rylan Hart earned All-Region honors with another standout campaign. Hitting .354 throughout the season, Hart gathered 23 RBIs, seven doubles and two home runs. In the field at shortstop, he ended with a 0.944 fielding percentage and turned eight double plays.

Senior center fielder and pitcher Keaton Rich grabbed All-Region recognition as he posted a .414 batting average in his final season at Carbon. Leading the team with 36 hits, Rich also swiped a team-high 11 bases.

Jordan Fossat earned his second straight All-Region selection as he again contributed as an every-day player and pitcher for the Dinos. At the plate Fossat hit .379 and brought in 17 runs. His final appearance in a Carbon uniform came in the quarterfinals against Juab where he pitched 4.2 innings and allowed just two runs as the Dinos topped the No. 1 team in 3A 6-4.

Junior Chet Anderson was selected after playing middle infield and leading off for Carbon throughout the season. Hitting .402 in 94 plate appearances, Anderson finished with 22 RBIs and 32 runs.

Senior catcher Jacob Vasquez was also named to the All-Region team. Playing in 28 games Vasquez hit .362 and gathered 17 RBIs to go along with a team high 17 walks. Behind home plate Vasquez finished with a .917 fielding percentage.

Hart, Rich, Vasquez and Fossat will represent Carbon in the 3A Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, May 21 at Juan Diego High School. Anderson will join teammates Wyatt Falk and Ridge Nelson on the Underclassmen All-Star Game, which will also take place at Juan Diego on Saturday. Lowe will not participate due to an injury.
