Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and beloved Yia Yia, Kostadina Constance Konakis Poglajen, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2022 at her granddaughter’s home in Vernal, Utah.

She was born March 20, 1929 in Sunnyside, Utah to Gust and Stella Vasillas Konakis.  On November 11, 1947, she married Frank Poglajen, Jr., in Price, Utah. Connie and Frank were blessed with three children, Carolyn, Frank and John prior to her husband’s passing on June 4, 1982.

Connie was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Price.  She was a longtime resident of the area where she worked as an X-Ray Technician at Carbon Medical in Dragerton and Carbon Hospital in Price. She eventually went to work for Dr. Cox in Price where Connie enjoyed working as the Office Manager for 18 years.  Connie loved people and her smile and genuine concern brought happiness and comfort to all.

Connie was an excellent cook who loved being the hostess.  She was very meticulous and always made sure that proper etiquette and manners were used around the dining table. Connie loved crocheting, painting and was an accomplished artist. Rest in peace Yia Yia. May Your Memory Be Eternal.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Andy) Oman, Price; son, John (Roberta) Poglajen, St. George; special niece, Kathy K. Steffes, St. Louis Park, MN; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marian (Steve) Kogianes, American Fork; brothers, Lynn (Iva) Kanakis, Menards, CO, and Stanley Kanakis, Orem.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gust and Stella Konakis; husband, Frank Poglajen; son, Frank (Becky) Poglajen; sisters, Harriet Marakis, Helen Maddison, Annie Vomvas, Artemisia Bertelson, Mary Rizzuto, Angie Lawrence and Athena Swasey; brothers, Steve, Johnny, Andrew, Angelo and Nick.

Funeral service, Wednesday, June 22, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.  Trisagion service, Tuesday 7:00 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to service.  Committal service, Price City Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
