The annual Helper Arts, Music, and Film Festival is set to take place on August 19 and run through till August 21. This three-day event brings together arts, music, food and community. Castle County Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Event Representative, Hannah Patrick to discuss all the details.

“The Gallery Stroll with be on Thursday, August 18 and that starts at 6:00 pm. I believe there will be a show at the Rio at 8:00 pm that Thursday night. Then we head into Friday, where all the art vendors will be setting up, but the festival won’t start officially until 2:00 pm and it will go until dusk. Then on Saturday, we’ll be back at it from 10:00 am to dusk, and there will also be a car show on Saturday, August 20. Then August 21, Sunday will be our last day, the festival will open up again at 10:00 am and end at 1:00 pm on Sunday,” stated Patrick. This event is open to all ages and there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

The organizers have been busy preparing for the annual event since the beginning of the year. “We started back in January so we’ve been going over a bunch of different things. Looking at ways to make it better and improve it, and still make it a fun family atmosphere as well. So the applications didn’t open until April but we’ve been working on it since January,” said Patrick.  A lot of planning goes into the event from registration of vendors and artists, plus booking the bands.

There will be an award given to various artist booths and food vendors this year. “So we have some different things going on for art vendors and food vendors, specifically as far as set up. Just to make setup easier and more accessible, and hopefully run a little smoother. We also have some awards we’re going to be giving out so the community will be able to vote on their favorite art vendor booth, as well as their favorite food vendor booth. So the winners of those will be announced on Sunday at 1:00 pm,” said Patrick. This is just a way for the event organizers to thank those vendors for participating and attending the annual festival.
