Lady Dino tennis got things started Monday on the road for the Grantsville Invitational. Carbon was able to pull out a few match wins, but at the end of the day, they struggled, finishing in fourth place.

Host team Granstville finished in the top spot, followed by Stansbury, Mountain Crest and Carbon.

In the first matches of the day Carbon faced off with Mountain Crest High School from Hyrum. Carbon’s Lindsey Snow won her first match in straight sets 6-2 and 6-1 and in her second singles match Lizzy Blackburn claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win.

The matches against the host team Grantsville were difficult ones. Carbon only won 20 sets in all of their matches and lost 6-0.

In the final set of matches for the day Carbon would go up against Stansbury, a 5A team from Stansbury Park. Snow earned a win in first singles 6-2 and 6-1 and Ella Anderson in third singles, kept things interesting, battling to a second set loss 7-6 with a 9-7 tie-breaker.

The Lady Dinos will be back on the hard courts Thursday and Friday in Price for the Carbon Invitational. The six team two-day tournament gets underway at 8 a.m. on the Price City Tennis Courts.
