Green River baseball is heading into the final two games of the regular season this week. Last week they faced Diamond Ranch Academy earning the win with their highest run total of the season 22-4, then on Friday Valley came to town taking an 11-0 win.

The Pirates have just two games left in the regular season with Bryce Valley and Panguitch. Green River has a 2-12 record and will not know where they sit in the RPI rankings until Sept. 26, when the final numbers are revealed and Green River knows where they will be headed for the opening round of the playoffs that will start Sept. 30.

In the contest with Diamond Ranch, Green River jumped out to a 12-0 lead behind a five run third.

Coming up in the top of the fifth with the Pirate lead at 14-1, Green River would go on another tear putting eight runs on the board and taking the 22-4 win.

Green River feasted on Diamond Ranch pitching with with six Pirates registering at least one hit. Bridjer Meadows was 3-3 from the plate with an RBI and four runs scored. Ryker Meadows collected two hits, two RBI’s and crossed home plate five times, and Raul Mendoza was 2-4 from the plate, with five RBI’s a scored four runs.

On the mound, it was Bridjer Meadows earning the complete game win, with two hits and three strikeouts.

The game last Friday with Valley at home was not what the Pirates were looking for, especially for Senior Day for the team.

The Pirates couldn’t find any offense against Valley only managing four hits, but were never able to bring anyone home.

Ryker Meadows got the start going just 1 1/3 giving up six earned runs on two hits, Raul Mendoza came in to finish out the contest putting in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Two games remain on the Pirates schedule for this week. On Wednesday they will be on the road to take on Bryce Valley, in the first game between these two this season Bryce Valley won 10-0.

The final game of the regular season will be a visit to Panguitch, one of the top teams in 1A, in the previous meeting Panguitch claimed the 12-1 victory.
