The USU Eastern Theatre Department will be hosting a dinner and auction on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this event as the theatre department is trying to earn funds to take a production on tour in Canada. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Associate Professor of Theatre Design & Technology, Brent Innes to get all the details.
“The dinner is going to be pretty spectacular. We have two different kinds of lasagna, breadsticks, salad, dessert, USU specialty drink. Tickets are $15.00 for a single, and $25.00 for a couple, and those tickets are available, limited number, online through https://www.eventbrite.com/ “ said Innes. The dinner will be held in the USU Eastern Central Instruction Building lobby.
There will be an auction held during the event with over $4,500.00 worth of items. “We have some pretty amazing items coming in for the auction. There’s a one of kind hand beaded Native medallion, featuring the USU Eastern athletic logo, which is all hand beaded and its pretty spectacular. We have golf passes for all across the state, 18 holes plus a cart. We have custom cakes, we have custom artwork, we have hand forged knives, we’ve got sport packages from Rock Hard Survival,” stated Innes. This would be a great opportunity to bid on items for Christmas gifts.
Not only is the theatre department hosting a dinner and auction they are also hosting a Savers drive to earn more funds for their trip to Canada and community members are invited to participate. “We did a Savers Clothing soft goods drive last year to help raise money for different events and it was good run for us and successful so we’re doing that again. So we’ll take clothing, handbags, boots, accessories, bedding, baby clothes, adult clothes, anything that is a household soft good and we’ll take it to Savers and they will pay us a cash price per pound,” explained Innes. The next USU Eastern Theatre production will be Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood – The Adventures of Robin Hood on January 9 through 12 and January 18 through 21, 2023 at the Geary Event Center.
