Terry Lee Sanslow was born on December 18, 1948 in Standardville, Utah to parents, Harold Edmond Sanslow and Leatrice Jean Pollock Sanslow. Terry passed away on November 28, 2022 in Wellington, Utah after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Terry attended Bountiful High School and later Utah Technical College, where his fellow students affectionately called him “Grandpa.” Terry had many hobbies and passions. He was an avid hunter, sportsman, fisherman, woodworker, tinkerer, collector and was thoroughly invested in completing his family history. He was always very involved in his local community; he helped build the ATV trails across Carbon County and was responsible for building a fishing pond in Wellington. He served as President of The National Turkey Federation (Price Chapter). He won volunteer of the year for his dedication to the Division of Wildlife and he even served as a City Councilman in Wellington, Utah.
Terry was a surrogate grandpa to so many people in his life. He always took the time and care to be kind and generous to those around him. I was lucky enough to be born with Terry as my grandpa and I always felt like my sister and I meant the world to him. Whether it was building forts together in the woods or going to Wendy’s for hamburgers and McDonald’s for fries, he put his whole heart into making us happy. I can confidently say I had the best grandpa in the world.
My grandpa will be dearly missed by his family and friends and we will go on missing him until we meet again. We would like to give a sincere thank you to Carol Blackburn, who has taken such attentive, generous and selfless care of my grandpa through his battle with cancer.
He is survived by his life partner and soulmate, Carol Blackburn; his son, Kody (Marny) Sanslow; his two granddaughters, Brittany (Travis) Cottam and Danielle Sanslow; his siblings, James Sanslow and Annette Sanslow; and our beloved family pet, Ruger, whose favorite thing was to lick my grandpa’s ears. Terry also passed with the news that he is soon to be a great- grandfather.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Leatrice Sanslow.
A Celebration of Life for Terry will be held on December 10, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the Wellington 1st/4th Ward Chapel in Wellington (47 North 100 East, Wellington, UT 84542). Family and friends are welcome to share their thoughts and favorite memories of Terry during the celebration. A spaghetti meal will be served following the celebration in honor of Terry. We all know how much he loved spaghetti! In remembrance of Terry, he asked that a donation be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his name.
