The Emery Spartan track and field squad competed in the 2023 State Track and Field Championships in Provo on the campus of Brigham Young University last weekend. Over the three days of competition all schools across all classifications took part. Emery would come through with some great performances with the boys landing in 11th place and the girls claiming 13th.

For the boy’s Morgan claimed the top spot followed by Juab and Union landed in third. Richfield and Delta tied for fourth which put Grantsville in sixth.

Matt Olsen earned a second place finish in the high jump, after a great season, and Boston Huntington earned a third place finish. Olsen also earned a fifth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles and he was also a member of the 4 x 400 team along with fellow Spartans Mason Hurdsman, Camdon Larsen and Jack Christiansen.

Larsen went on to claim a ninth place finish in the 3200. Larsen, Christiansen, Corbin Jensen and Dalton Allred claimed a sixth place finish in the sprint medley. Christiansen finished tenth in the 800 meter as well.

On the girl’s side, the Morgan Trojans claimed the top spot as well, followed by Juan Diego in second. Canyon View, Union and Grand rounded out the top five.

Megan Stilson earned a second place finish in the high jump, with Abby Morris ending the weekend in fifth.  Addie Hurst finished the 3200 in eighth.
