Carbon High School sophomores Grace Simms and Carley West have earned 3A All-State Honorable Mentions for the 2023 golf season, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Both girls were key instruments in a highly successful season for the Lady Dinos as the team finished second overall in Region 12. The duo continued to play top notch golf in leading Carbon to a 7th place finish overall at the 3A State Championship Tournament earlier this month.

The Honorable Mention is the second in as many years for Simms, who finished 11th in the overall region standings with an average of 101.5. Finishing with a 183 at the 3A State Championship, Simms finished tied for 26th overall.

West ended region play with 7th place finish individually. Leading Carbon throughout the season, she finished with an average of 94.5. Ending two-strokes back of her teammate at the State Championship meet, West ended tied for 29th overall on the leaderboard.

The Professional Golfers Association of America Utah Section selects the top 30 golfers in each classification to the All-State Teams. The selections are based purely on performance on the course, placing the top 10 on the First Team, the next 10 on the Second Team and the final 10 on the Honorable Mention list.
