On Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. the Emery County Sheriff’s Department received a call that there had been an attempted kidnapping that had taken place during the County Days Track Meet which was being held at Emery High School.

The victim and her friend, two sixth graders, reported that they had left the field to use the restrooms and that upon exiting the victim was grabbed by the waist by an unknown male who also used his other hand to cover her mouth. Upon seeing this as she exited the bathroom, the victim’s friend began screaming which scared away the potential kidnapper and allowed the girls to escape.

Upon notification, the Sheriff’s Department Deputies found the man sitting on the end of the bleachers by himself. He was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the Emery County Jail where the man, identified by an affidavit and released by KSL as 37-year old Quintin Drollinger, is being held without bond on first degree felony kidnapping charges.

In a statement released on Facebook, Sheriff Tyson Huntington spoke on the event saying,” I would like to thank the citizens who helped protect and comfort the victim and preserve the scene until law enforcement arrived. Once again it goes to show how important our citizens are to law enforcement. Please be aware of your surroundings.”

With an ongoing investigation, KOAL will provide more updates as they become available.
