Our beloved wife, daughter, sister and friend, Shannon Mortensen Brown, age 51, passed away March 6, 2025, after a courageous, six-month battle with cancer.

She was born December 26, 1973, in St. George, Utah to Scott M. and Brenda Pectol Mortensen.

On May 28, 2005, Shannon married George James Brown in Emery, Utah.

During Shannon’s early years she relocated with her mother residing in various places across Utah, including Washington, Emery, Vernal and Nephi. She spent a brief time in Lander, Wyoming before moving to Rapid City, South Dakota. When she was nine years old Shannon moved to Egypt for approximately a year. During that summer she toured Amsterdam with friends on her way back to the United States.

She then returned to Emery, Utah and lived with her dad until her mother’s return from Egypt. When her mother returned, they moved to Rapid City before relocating to Gillette, Wyoming where she attended and graduated from Gillette High School. Shannon then moved to Rapid City again where she lived for several years and met her husband, George. Shortly after they moved to Union, Washington for 1 1/2 years before settling down in Huntington, Utah.

Among many things, Shannon dearly loved her animals, camping with family and friends, and riding four-wheelers and side by sides on the mountain and desert. The mountain was her favorite place.

Shannon will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, family, and a community of friends.

She is survived by her husband, George Brown, Huntington; father, Scott (Kris) Mortensen, Emery; mother, Brenda (Dale) Sugden, Galesburg, Illinois; brother and two sisters, Justine (Matt) Gabriel, Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, Chans Sugden, Galesburg, Illinois, Shawna (Israel) Petersen, Vernal.
