The Utah State Eastern men’s basketball team hosted the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans for their third and final matchup this season. The Eagles had defeated the Spartans twice before the matchup on Thursday night.

Eastern started the game with a 6-0 run, dominating the game on both offense and defense. With 15 minutes left in the first half, the Spartans took their first lead of the half, but the Eagles quickly recovered and regained their lead. Eastern’s lead grew to as large as eight points in the half, but the Eagles led the Spartans, 38-36, at the half.

Bowen Davies led Eastern with 10 points in the first half. Seven Bahati had eight points on 4-5 shooting to help the Eagles.

The second half was a battle between the two squads. Three early lead changes left the Spartans with a seven-point lead with eight minutes left in the contest. Battling back in the game, Eastern tied the game at 62 with under five minutes left to play. A Liam Davis layup gave the Eagles a late lead, and they held on to win 72-68.

Bowen Davies was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 15 points. Davies shot 7-11 from the field, and he collected five rebounds in the contest. Liam Davis (13) and Isaac Castagnetto (10) also finished in double figures.

Next for the Eagles is a matchup with the Salt Lake Community College Bruins. The Eagles will honor their sophomores with their Sophomore Day. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.
