Terry M. Gleave, 82, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at Huntsman Cancer Institute, surrounded by his boys.
Born on February 21, 1944, in Long Beach, California, Terry lived a life defined by grit, humor, and devotion to family. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970, including service during the Vietnam War.
Terry was a man of many talents and passions. He loved rodeo life—especially bull dogging—as well as fly fishing, shoeing horses, and working with his hands. Whether roofing, flooring, or “whoring around” on a project, he was never afraid of hard work and always had a story to tell. His larger-than-life personality and sense of humor kept those around him laughing.
Proud of his Greek and Pisano heritage, Terry lived life on his own terms. Tough as they come, he was still running the out gate at the high school rodeo just two months before his passing.
Terry’s early life shaped the man he became. After losing his father at age 12, he grew up quickly, carrying resilience throughout his life. He never forgot his roots—or the family stories, including the unforgettable night his mother bailed him and his two brothers out of three different jails.
Above all, Terry’s greatest pride was his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Gleave; his biological father, Maxwell Mangum; his adopting father, Deward Gleave and his brother, Kurt Gleave. He is survived by his younger brother, Dale Gleave; his sons, Will, TJ, and Bubba; and his “feral children,” Monte and Becky. He dedicated his life to caring for his “Bub,” and his love for his boys never wavered.
Terry will be remembered for his toughness, loyalty, humor, and the stories that will live on through all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life in Memory of Terry will be held on June 28, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Cowboy Club (31 West Main St.) in Wellington.
Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Terry online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
