Billy Gene Hales, born November 3, 1941, in Hayden, Colorado passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Billy had a love for all things Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, and driving school buses. He could talk your ear off about all three things and his dream to return to Texas next summer.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Ann Hales; his wife, Laurel Kay Hales; and his mother, Nellie May Timothy Hales.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Joni Lee Hales (Jonica); his grandchildren, Andrew Jones and Ashleigh Skeen (Cole); his first wife and friend, Dawn Marie Hales; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by everyone.

Graveside Services were held on Friday, July 3, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Memorial Redwood Cemetery (6500 South Redwood Road) in West Jordan, Utah.
