Ernest Evans Monson, 77, passed away July 31, 2026.

Born November 26, 1948, in Dragerton, UT, to Ernest Y. and Katherine Monson, he graduated from East Carbon High and worked for Kaiser Steel.

He married Janna Watt on June 27, 1970 (later solemnized in the Manti Temple); they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage.

Ernest loved the outdoors, fly fishing, and singing alongside his wife. Above all, he cherished his family and held a steadfast gospel testimony.

He is survived by his wife, Janna; children, Shane (Kim), Sheli, Ryan (Mindy), Lynn (Nikki), Kyle (Tarrin), and Kaitlyn; 20 grandchildren; and 4 ½ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Kirt and Kay.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 10, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at the Hillcrest Ward Chapel in Wellington.  Family will receive friends at the church Sunday evening from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to service.  Burial will follow in the Wellington City Cemetery.
