Lois, as she was known by many, was a former resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, Helper, and Price, Utah.
On August 29, 2026, she left this mortal existence to join her Heavenly Father, her parents, her beloved husband Howard, her son and daughter-in-law, Ray (Laurie) Telarole, and her dearly loved sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Bill Griffith, and her many relatives and friends who preceded her in death. She passed at the Heirloom Inn Retirement Residence in Price, Utah.
Lois was born in Amarillo, TX on July 29, 1931 to Monroe Brown and Bertha Mae Rigney Cotten. She was the first of two daughters. Lois attended elementary schools in NM, intermediate schools in Texas, and high school in Tooele, UT. Following graduation from high school, Lois enrolled at St. Benedicts Hospital School of Nursing in Ogden where she graduated in August of 1952 and passed the state boards to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
Through a fellow nursing student, she met her first husband, Raymond V. Telarole whom she married on August 16, 1952 in Tooele.
Lois worked in several local doctors’ offices, The Carbon Hospital, Castleview Hospital, and in the Nursing Program at the College of Eastern Utah. Lois worked for over forty years holding many positions in nursing before retiring in 1993. She enjoyed the time she worked with her daughter Shauna for three years during the opening of the Heirloom Inn.
Lois and Raymond were married 57 ½ years before their marriage ended, after which she married Howard Wall on May 1, 2010 in Paradise Valley, AZ; whom she met in Tooele in 1946. They were high school sweethearts and good friends for life.
She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized on May 15, 2010. Lois and Howard were sealed in the Mesa, AZ Temple on May 18, 2011. They spent 6 ½ unbelievable years together until Howard’s passing in August of 2016, after which she returned to Price and has lived at the Heirloom Inn for 10 enjoyable years.
Lois leaves behind her daughter, Shauna (David) O’Brien of Price; and grandchildren, Erica O’Brien of Salt Lake City, Lauren Telarole (Andy Kitchen) of Salt Lake City, and Bryan Telarole (Cidney) of Price, Utah; stepsons, Ed Wall (Kay) of Denver, CO, David Wall (Julie) of Lake Oswego, OR; and her step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved sister’s family, her Texas and Arizona family, and her Utah Wall family members that she dearly loved, along with her many wonderful adopted friends she claimed as family in Arizona and Utah over the years. They each know who they are and how very special they were to her and were a real blessing in her life. She wore a charm that said, “Through love and through friendship a heart lives more than one life.”
A special thank you to the Shorts family that made her feel so special when she was made an honorary member of their amazing family and each held a very special place in her heart.
Lois requested that her ashes be interred in Helper, Tooele, and Heber. Per her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the Heber City Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch (600 S.W. 11th Ave. Amarillo, TX 79101) and the Carbon County Humane Society in her name.
Lois asks that we extend her appreciation and love to her Heirloom Inn family, her devoted companions, Christy Bruce and Siegred Christensen, the staff at CNS, and the many wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff who have attended her with loving care over the years.
