The golf season came to an end for the Carbon Dinos as they failed to make the cut for the second day at the state tournament on Wednesday, finishing with a score of 192 at Solider Hollow in Midway.

Only the top 10 out of the sixteen competing teams advanced to the second and final day of the tournament. At the end of the first round Carbon was 13th place, 41 points behind 10th place Logan.

Fellow Region 12 schools Canyon View and North Sanpete also failed to make the cut, while the region’s champion Juab advanced with an eighth place finish. Entering the second and final day Park City sits at the top of the leaderboard with 307, Desert Hills is in second with 304 and Dixie is in third with 281.

Lexi Garcia led the Lady Dinos by scoring 53 points in the Modified Stableford system. Indie Gardner and Aubrey Faussett both scored 47, Laini Davis chipped in with 45, and Keely Marquez and Gwyn Kardelis finished with 44.

The Lady Dinos qualified for the state tournament after finishing third in Region 12. Both Marquez and Garcia finished inside the top 10 individually in the final region scores.
