Emery- 27 (1-1), Payson- 14:
Logan Cox rushed for 162 yards and two scores to lead the Emery Spartans to their first victory of the season. Trailing in the second quarter 7-0, the Spartans scored 27 unanswered to points to get the win. Defensively the Spartans forced four turnovers.

Carbon- 15 (0-2), Ben Lomond- 62:
Senior Nathan Olsen returned a kick 95-yards for a touchdown and Derek Hillam caught a 24-yard score as the Dinos dipped to 0-2. Olsen accumulated 100 yards on the ground to lead the offense that struggled for the second consecutive week.

Juan Diego- 21 (1-1), Manti- 17:
Trailing the entire contest, Juan Diego took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter on a Stone Azarcon two-yard touchdown run. Azarcon accounted for all three of Juan Diego’s scores as the Soarin’ Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season.

Grantsville- 14 (1-1), Tooele- 40:
After a gritty victory 7-6 win over Cyprus in week one, Grantsville again struggled to produce offensively in the one-sided loss to Tooele. Riley Smith ran for 110 yards on 23 carries and quarterback Coy Johnson gathered 111 all purpose yards.

Morgan- 20 (0-2), South Summit- 22:
Trailing 22-0 in the second quarter, Morgan battled back to get within two. Shutting South Summit out in the final two quarters, the Trojan’s comeback effort fell just short. Quarterback Tucker Skinner finished 10-21 through the air for 132 yards and two scores, and also ran for 20 more on the ground.

Union- 19 (0-2), Summit Academy- 21:
Union quarterback Cole Bertoch broke the 100-yard barrier on only 16 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Cougars dipped to 0-2. Union never led and had trouble slowing the Summit Academy passing attack, as standout quarterback Isaac Hamilton completed 18 of 32 passes for 195 yards and two scores.

3A South:

Manti- 17 (1-1), Juan Diego- 21:
Trailing the entire contest, Juan Diego took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter on a Stone Azarcon two-yard touchdown run. Azarcon accounted for all three of Juan Diego’s scores as the Soarin’ Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season.

Delta- 49 (1-1), Millard- 7:
Dallin Draper exploded out of the gate with touchdown runs of 67 and 26 yards to help give the Rabbits a 20-0 first quarter lead. The final three quarters were a mere formality for the Rabbits, who improved to 1-1.

Juab- 21 (1-1), Star Valley, Wyo.- 41:
A late addition to their schedule, the Juab Wasps traveled out of the state to take on Wyoming power house Star Valley. After a slow first half the Wasps outscored their opponent 21-13 over the final 24 minutes.

North Sanpete- 36 (1-1), Timpanogos- 28:
Three straight scores in the second half allowed North Sanpete to pull away from Timpanogos in a back and forth affair. Quarterback Spencer Steadman completed 50-percent of his pass for 176 yards and two touchdowns as head coach Rhett Bird earned the first victory of his career.

Canyon View (0-2)- 16, Hurricane- 20:
Despite holding a two point lead entering the fourth quarter, the Falcons were unable to hold off a late Hurricane push as they dropped to 0-2 on the season. Isaiah Shearer finished with 143 yards on the ground and added a touchdown to his stat line.

Richfield- 23 (0-2), South Sevier- 26:
Despite scoring 13 unanswered points in the final stanza the Richfield Wildcats were unable to top the South Sevier Rams. Quarterback Emmit Hafen posted 129 yards through the air on seven completions.
