The second annual Battin’ For Boobies Softball tournament took place Saturday at the Carbon County Fairgrounds, raising over $4,000.00 for the United Way of Eastern Utah’s Live, Love, Local Cancer Assistance Program.

“We managed to raise close to $5,000.00 that will go towards helping people with cancer in Carbon and Emery County,” said Carole Wright, director of the United Way of Eastern Utah. “It was a lot of fun and we are grateful for everyone’s support.”

Working in conjunction with Carbon Recreation, 20 teams from the local area as well as Salt Lake and Utah County and the Uintah Basin gathered to support the great cause. Several volunteers also donated hours to make the event a successful outing.

The Auto Farm from Price won the gold bracket for the second consecutive season, topping CNC Fabrication out of Cornish, UT. The Comebacks, another team from Price, finished first in the silver bracket. Hakuna Matatas from Kaysville grabbed a second place nod.

The tournament started at 8:00 am in the morning, placing teams into two separate brackets with an ice breaker contest. The teams were separated according to their win/loss performance, as well as margin of victory or defeat.

Due to the overwhelming success of the tournament the United Way of Eastern Utah expects it return for a third year. For more information on the Live, Love, Local Cancer Assistance Program visit the United Way of Eastern Utah online at uweu.org.
