Active Re-Entry offers several programs and services for individuals with disabilities to help them to achieve or maintain self-sufficient and productive lives. Chris Haycock, Community Integration and Youth Coordinator gave details of two programs that are offered at the center.

The Youth Program is for children/youth with all disabilities, ranging from 10 to 24 years of age. Haycock said activities include, “Cooking classes are a big one they really love to come out and cook. We do budgeting, anything that they feel they need to learn before they can go out and do on their own.”

The activities such as frisbee golf, fishing, golf to name a few, are offered once a month while school is in session, as to not take participants away from their school work. The Youth Programs offers opportunities for peer support while helping to build self confidence, teach independent living skills and increase communication and socialization skills.

“Once they age out of the Youth Program they can pick up the Community Integration Program,” said Haycock. The adult program is offered for ages 25 and older.

Haycock stated, “I’ve found that a lot of our older adults that are coming into the program kind of got lost in the gaps before the ADA and everything.” Because of this, adults are able to learn independent living skills, such as budgeting, cooking or what every skill they would like to learn.

Haycock finished with, “If you want to know more about the programs you can find us on Facebook and it’s under “Active Re-Entry Price” and our phone number is 637-4950.”

Activate Re-entry is committed to promoting the rights, dignity and quality of life for all persons with disabilities.
