Longtime Alaskan resident, Colleen Singleton Jorgensen, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017. She was 92 years old.

Colleen was born in Ferron, Utah on February 20, 1925. She married Wanless Jorgensen on October 5, 1943 in Wellington, Utah and were married 61 years until his death in March of 2005. They had 5 children. They moved to Palmer, Alaska in 1959 and relocated to Nikiski in 1966.

Colleen was a lifelong member of The Church of the Latter-Day Saints and found joy in serving the Lord through numerous callings within the church and its Relief Society organization.

She exemplified her life as a disciple of Christ and our Heavenly Father through her service of those in need. For many of us, life is full with the feeling of busyness and the need of staying with schedules and commitments: for Colleen life was full of love and service. Throughout her life, she and Wanless helped family, friends, neighbors, and community members through their hardships and trials by opening their hearts and home. If we could journey through life as she journeyed through hers the world would be a better place. She was non-judgmental; she did not complain; she did not frown; she did not dwell on negativity. She taught us stewardship, compassion, graciousness, patience, perseverance and most of all, love.

Colleen cherished every moment she had with her many family members, community friends and church members. She was loved by everybody and enjoyed by all with her positive nature, memoires and stories; the showing of her beloved pictures; her humor and most of all, her unrelenting wit.

Thank you, Colleen, for your beautiful spirit and sharing your earthly life with us. You will be in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wanless Jorgensen; father, Morris Singleton; mother, Alva May Huntsman; sisters, Eleanore George and Phyllis Stanton; brother, Samuel Singleton; daughter, Eleanor Huntsman; son, Craig Jorgensen; daughter-in-law, Sherri Jorgensen.
