Carbon High School soccer standout Giovanni Pavoni was named to the 3A First Team All-State squad Monday morning, leading three total selections for the school.
During his junior campaign Pavoni found the back of the net 21 times, placing him third in scoring throughout the classification. His 1.3 goals per game during the season helped push Carbon to the top four in goals scored throughout 3A during the region season.
Senior defender Deigo Leyva was recognized with a Second Team All-State selection. Despite his primary responsibilities being defense, Leyva still managed to score two goals for the Dinos.
Senior goalkeeper Jack Jeppson joins Leyva on All-State Second Team after a brilliant season protecting the goal. Jeppson accumulated five shutouts for the Dinos this season, all of which came in Region 14 play.
Ending the regular season with a 8-2-2 record in league play, Carbon finished second in Region 14. After dominating Richfield 6-0 in the opening round of the state tournament, the Dinos suffered a 10 loss to Morgan in the quarterfinals.
