The Carbon Dinos officially claimed the Region 14 championship for the fourth consecutive season Tuesday afternoon at the Fox Hollow Golf Course in American Fork.

Unbeaten throughout the season in region play, the Dinos finished tied with Delta at 345 for first in the finale. Entering the final meet of the season with a 111-stroke lead, the division title has been inevitable for the past month.

Brady Gagon and Carson Martines both shot an 82 to lead Carbon Tuesday afternoon. Nick Olson delivered the third score with a 90, followed by Kaden Slavenksy’s 95.

Behind Carbon and Delta finished Union in third with a 347. Providence Hall ended 12-strokes back of the leaders with a 357, followed by Juab with a 359. American Leadership Academy and Maeser Prep rounded out the field of seven.

In a true sign of domination Carbon also ended with three of the top four golfers in the region individually. Gagon finished first on the leaderboard with a final score of 469, five strokes better than Delta’s Jake Henrie. Martines and Olson finished third and fourth respectively.

With the region season now complete and the state tournament still two weeks away, the Dinos will participate in the annual Eastern Utah Cup on Wednesday, Sept. 26 in Roosevelt. The annual tournament features competition against Uintah and Union.
